				About Us LEPTRON Custom Power Sources began in the spring of 2006 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. John Oakley, Joe and Karen Podany opened the company to create and build custom batteries. In the summer of 2007, Joe and Karen moved to Montpelier, Idaho where Joe is a practicing surgeon and Karen is an infection control nurse. John married Kathy Frye and the business moved to Morgan, Utah where it is currently located. John and Kathy are now creating and building new battery packs, and John builds custom helicopters. LEPTRON is on a quest for innovative battery sources with improved power, longevity, and superior weight standards. We will provide updated newsletters as new information and technology are available and new products are tested and ready for purchase. LEPTRON manufactures nickel metal battery packs for receivers and transmitters. LEPTRON also designs and manufactures custom remote control helicopters for sport and photography missions. These helicopters can be outfitted with inertia sensors for stabilization and/or semi-autonomous autopilots for photo operations. We custom design and build RC sport helicopters for the discriminating heli-pilots and training helicopters for government agencies. WHO WE ARE JOHN OAKLEY John has been in the RC helicopter and battery business for over thirty years. He was the owner of JD Hobbies in Idaho Falls, ID for seven years before beginning LEPTRON Custom Power Sources. John is also an experienced pilot who has flown over 40 different types of planes, has designed custom rotary engines for aircraft, rebuilt general aviation airplanes and War Birds. John flies an experimental Kitfox Speedster that he built and modified. KATHY OAKLEY Kathy is an Associate Professor in the Radiologic Sciences Department at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah. She teaches general radiography and radiation therapy courses. Kathy is John’s apprentice learning how to build custom battery packs, is the office manager, company secretary, website manager, co-pilot in the Kitfox….. and keeps John in line, when possible!
